Daily Operational Reporting

With the capability to capture, track, analyse, and report on all Drilling, Completion, Workover, Intervention and P&A activities; users will always have access to the full scope of an operation right from the initial concept to final decommissioning. IDS maintains a complete record of the work that has been done on the well, wellbore, and operation.

Activity Recording

Taking time to look back over design & development history, Activity Recording has set a global identity for itself in terms of functionality. The following are the function points of Activity Recording implementation in IDS DataNet2.

  1. In the area of well-centric data recording, operational activity is entered as discreet events, as it aims to achieve both time tracking and depth tracking capabilities.

  2. IDS screen or user interface (UI) design for any particular screen takes into account various factors such as:

    • Frequency of record updates during a well/operation
    • Number of records entered in a day
    • And potentially whether a screen is viewed/ entered by different roles (or engineers) working on rotation.

For better user experience, the design considers the nature of data accessibility & changes in requirements between different clients and/or regions.
  3. During pre-deployment to a client-site or data setup stages, there will be activity code hierarchy setup that allows for data consistency by filtering codes. This compliments with capabilities such as Best Practices Codes and Fixed Text Remarks.

  4. It has been aligned to O&G operational data entry practices that facilitate data for the daily morning report, and therefore next day activity allows entry from midnight to 0600 hrs daily. For better user experience, data from the next day activity is populated into the current day to allow continuity in data entry.

  5. Other customisations are also done so that DataNet2 Activity is adapted to usability scenarios across the O&G industry

    1. For Rig Contractor usage different terms such as Primary and Sub Time Code are adopted, and using back a modular D2 system with customisation on the user interface design level.

    2. Safety records in another data entry screen are linked, as seen in Activity data entry extensions for Lessons Learned data recording.

    3. Fields are available for Simultaneous Operation (SIMOP) to cater for dual or parallel running activity recording.

    4. For Norwegian clients, data entry & reporting design are aligned with Norwegian Petroluem Directorate (NPD) regulatory reporting requirements.

    5. Activity batch coding features allows multiple activity records to be updated simultaneously.

Performance Management - Activity Coding

IDS is an adaptive SaaS solutions provider. The IDS DataNet software suite enables Companies to manage operational data effectively. With best-in-class data management, the IDS DataNet software suite offers advanced data analytics, performance profiling and benchmarking capabilities that aid in decision-making and help reduce the time between a problem occurring and determining a solution.

A very promising area in performance improvement exists in the study of historical data to aid in the planning of future operations. While many industries place a very high value on data management, the question 'Are we capturing our data effectively?' is rarely asked in the fast-paced operational environment that is Oil & Gas. This lack of data management focus leads to the capture and storage of data, the value of which is never fully realised through analysis and interpretation..

To address this, IDS - in collaboration with Industry specialists – has developed an Activity Coding system and work breakdown structure (WBS) that captures the right information to fully describe the task being undertaken and its place in the broader setting of the work place environment. Not only does this Code Set improve the analytics capability for its use in data analytics, it also adds future proofing.

BEST PRACTICES

Understanding the importance of activity coding proves pivotal when Companies begin to look at operational data in more detail in order to find cost reduction possibilities and performance improvement methods. Clearly, there significant value to be had by evaluating and improving upon activity coding but this knowledge should also be recycled throughout the entire operational lifecycle of planning, implementation, execution and the final evaluation of any operation or project.

Why use IDS Best Practice Activity Coding?

• Fully defined start and end points for all Operational Phases
• Standard structure adheres to all common benchmarking best practices
• Consistent work breakdown structure (WBS)
• Task codes filtered by Phase – making code selection simple
• Codes are organised in chronological order – making code selection simple
• Detailed coding in areas prone to Invisible Lost Time (ILT)
• Pre-enabled fixed text remarks leads to improved data quality
